About LECP
Who do we support?
LECP provides a range of projects that offer information, advice, guidance and support to 13-19 year olds (service available to age 25 for those young people with special educational needs).
What are our aims?
LECP is a not for distributable profit locally owned and locally controlled community organisation based in the London Borough of Newham. It is committed to improving the lives of all young people and is unique because it combines local accountability and it is run by a small executive team that has successfully run and managed Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Services to Young People within London Borough of Newham and nationally both while working at LECP and in previous recent employment. It has a demonstrable expertise in deploying and managing a diverse workforce in diverse communities.
Now for some history ...
At the end of March 2008, LECP ceased to be the responsible authority for the Connexions Service in the London East sub region. Since its establishment in 2002, LECP has gained substantial experience in delivering services for young people, involving young people in the commissioning, delivery and review of such services and delivering cross borough services where these provide a more effective means of delivery. The LECP Board decided that these benefits should be preserved to support the delivery of effective services for young people within the Local Authority Integrated Youth Support Services.
What about the future?
We are now beginning the next stage in LECP's development into an independent company providing services for young people under contract. We will become a smaller organisation, more business orientated, with a sharper focus on services based on our areas of expertise and experience that enable us to become viable financially.
The ethos of the company will be based on the values it has always held:

- to be a local community based organisation
- to be a not for profit organisation
- to have transparent accounting and return any surplus to the contract holder
- to involve young people in the planning, delivery and monitoring of services
We have redrafted our vision statement to reflect the changing environment in which we work. It does not represent a break from the past but an evolution towards a new future:
LECP aims to 'provide effective, innovative and young people focussed services across the London region that meet local community priorities and support young people to achieve their potential' (LECP Vision Statement 2008).
