H* missed a lot of his education during year 10 and 11 due to ongoing illness, and was not sure of his career options. Although very able he was not able to turn this into GCSE. H saw the opportunity to join the Activity Agreement as a way of addressing both his disengagement and his isolation.
Middle
Working slowly on the project and gradually building up his activities. H started to address his barriers to learning and by week 3 he was enjoying the project so much that he actively chose to increase his activities. Participating in a number of activities, including English, Maths and Motiv8 (self development) helped H to get to know other people and improve his skills.
End
H applied to 3 colleges before accepting a place at Barking College on the BTEC Foundation in Information & communication Technology to start September 2007.
H commented on his time on the AA saying..
"I have enjoyed the Activity Agreement. My confidence has grown and I have gained a lot of skills that I missed out on by not doing my GCSEs. The project was interesting and I got the chance to do different things. I have gained a lot of skills that have helped me get into college."
