Beginning
JP* had finished school, but did not pass his GCSE's. He joined the AA wanting to do a fork lift truck driving qualification and his driving theory. JP aspired to become a learning mentor.
Barriers included low self esteem and socialising skills which discouraged JP from achieving his goals and aspirations.
Middle
Residential helped build his confidence and self esteem.
JP attended team building sessions to improve his socialising skills and now volunteers with the team as a young leader.
End
JP didn't want to leave the AA as he achieved so much. He has referred friends to the project and has said that "He found it helpful, found out lots of information and he has really progressed on project."
JP wants to help other young people with their barriers and is currently waiting on feedback from the Council on a job with their Youth and Play service......
